Caspersons, Bundys and Petersens came on the 3rd for dinner and a sleep-over. When it got dark we watched a movie outside with popcorn and candy. It was about dinosaurs so was enjoyed by all ages.Rachel and Trace did the Liberty 3 mile fun run, while Jamie and I walked to the Maverick. After breakfast we booked it to the Liberty parade, only to discover they had changed the time this year and we had missed it. No loss. My younger sister's family, the Jensens, joined us for the rest of the day. We went to Snowbasin for Frisbee golf on the mountain.
Jamie invented a version of Survivor which was so much fun. She had a competition for the children, and then for the adults. A written test was taken, after a qualifying round of eating 2 worms and a mouse (think gummy).
Lindsey had a carribeaner hooked on a belt and she had to navigate a ropes course, while being timed. We had some real good laughs during this part!
The final two contestants, Brody and Ryan, had to be the first to put together a puzzle. Bundy took the honors.
After lunch at Snowbasin, we went back home and the men and boys went to Sherwood Forest to rebuild the tree house and bridge. The girls brought lemonade and moral support. This is a grove of trees that is 200 yards to the west of our house. We have seen moose, elk, deer, fox, skunk and porcupine seek shelter here.
Little Emma was one of the injured. Brody stepped on a nail that went through his shoe. Milly had a high temperature. It's always something as Gilda Radner would say.

The Jensen's wanted in on the bat counting. Trace has already built one bat house and plans on 2 more. We want to keep our bats. We just don't want them where they are right now. We hope they will be willing to relocate!
It is a favorite family tradition to watch the fireworks at Liberty Park while lying on a blanket and seeing them pop directly overhead. Sitting in a chair somewhere is OUT of the question.
For my birthday today, Trace surprised me with two airline tickets to Nauvoo, Illinois in September. He is such a thoughtful gifter and wouldn't dream of getting me something from a list I handed him. We drove to TAGGART'S GRILL for lunch. I highly recommend. It is five miles east of Morgan, exit 108 off of I-84.
We can't leave without a cookie. Their sugar cookies are a must and also the banana with creme cheese frosting. Their sandwiches are made with their own fresh pita bread, and is worth at least a two hour trip in the car. Trust me and get going.
Next we drove to Sundance to hike to Stewart Falls. A nice cloud cover made for excellent hiking.
A stop into the Sundance General Store for a refreshing beverage left us ready to head home.
We continued listening to CD's by Dr. John L. Lund called FOR ALL ETERNITY...a four-talk set to strengthen your marriage.

you are johnny on the spot! you must spend hours posting your daily blogs. . . really- just let us go on thinking that! We had so much fun on the fourth! Thanks for including it. Brody commented after the fireworks that that was the coolest thing ever, and that it's good that Logan does fireworks on the 3rd since he'll be coming to Liberty every year on the 4th from now on! Your birthday looks like a lot of fun too. You needed that two dat break from gardening! Happy birthday!!!!!
What a fun time!!!! And you are a 4th of July baby? Our Heidi is a 4th and her brother, Elijah is today, the 5th! Or are you the 5th? Regardless, what hiking fools you guys are! I'd love a copy of the Suvivor game. And skeet shooting...you guys do it all! Awesome!
It's so fun to check your blog and read about places that are familiar to us. Sounds like you had a great 4th and Birthday. We must try Taggerts sometime. Love Liberty Park and actually knew the Stewarts that owned Sundance before "Bob". My brother was on the ski patrol there and when they were filming the winter scenes in Jeremiah Johnson he and a friend skied down to the little cabin and later watched R.R. have a tantrum because "somebody had ruined the pristine snow" they had waited overnight for. Sundance is in my families Ward.

What great documentaion! Do you think you would have taken such great pictures if you didn't have a blog? I'm so glad you took these pics, I didn't even take one all day! I have home video footage though. Your birthday sounds like it was way fun. That John Lund is gold! Taggarts is sounding so yummy, we must go soon!
Thanks again for such a fun day! We always know we'll have a good time when it's something that you and Trace are in charge of! And yes me and Brody will most definitely be back for more of those fireworks, they were awesome!
Jamies survivor idea looked like fun. I liked Linny in a skirt out on the course......and of course looking at those cookies from Taggarts is making my mouth water. The banana ones! What is up with the complete yumminess of it all. I'd take a cookie over a slice of cake any birthday. Sundance, that is quite a drive, but well worth it for fun times and memories.
I haven't visited your blog for a while, and you have so many new fun posts! What a fun fourth of July you had. I'm thinking about doing an outdoor movie like that with a projector has at his work. I heard about those cookies from Stacey, via Linny. We passed by Taggart twice last summer and once this summer but we never stopped! I must convince Jon to stop next year on our way to Colorado!
