Welcome To My Valley

Every day, when we wake up to nature's splendor in this pristine valley we are reminded of how fortunate we are to live in this piece of paradise, where others come to play. We have endless recreational opportunities in this alpine valley. The Upper Ogden Valley lies between the awe-inspiring Wasatch Mountains, 10 miles from Ogden, and a 55 minute drive from Salt Lake City. The 'Valley in the Sky' sits at an altitude of 5,500 feet ensuring plentiful winter snow. In summer temperatures quickly cool as you travel up the Ogden Canyon into the Valley. It is a place of wide-open spaces, mountains, wetlands, rivers, gurgling mountain streams and the pristine blue Pineview Reservoir. One can still leave the stress of daily life and go walking, cycling and horseback riding through green fields, sage and woodlands with endless mountain views. And at night Mother Nature provides the only light with the Milky Way clearly visible in the dark velvet skies.

Elk and deer are frequently sighted on the trails and a great number of moose also make the Valley and mountains their home. The occasional mountain lion and brown bear have also been sighted.

Mormon pioneers originally settled the Valley during the mid 1800's. Today about 7,000 people live in the rural boroughs of Huntsville, Eden and Liberty. All of these hamlets are dotted with horse, cattle and sheep ranches and the occasional llama farm. Age-old fur trapper trails dating back to the early 1800's are enjoyed today by hikers and mountain bikers.

We live on the east side of Ben Lomond Mountain. Last summer T and I summited in 6 hours 45 minutes. We were treated to several white mountain goats at the top. Twice before we have come across moose, which we see in the valley on a frequent basis.

The David O. McKay house is in Hunstville and open to the public in the summer months on Saturday.

Ogden Valley has an 18 hole golf course, a lake and 3 ski resorts. We live 2 miles from Wolf Mountain ski resort, 9 miles from Powder Mountain ski resort and 17 miles from Snowbasin ski resort. Skiers can choose a back country powder adventure, a lush resort with many innovations, or a frugal hill with limited facilities. These three resorts are the best -kept secrets among eager skiers.

Snowbasin is an Earl Holding property. He also owns Sun Valley in Idaho, Grand America in Salt Lake and numerous other properties. The super G was held here during the 2002 Olympics. The lodges at Snowbasin are so beautifully designed and decorated. We love to dine here, take the gondola to the top, hike or bike down. There is no end to the activities to be enjoyed in this beautiful area.





Wolf Creek Resort is a destination in and of itself. The golf course views are superb and we love to dine on their balcony, overlooking the lake.

I HAVE to 'go to town'....I use the term loosely.....everyday. It is 3 miles away. I also love to walk there. We have a Maverick, post office, grocery store and a few other businesses. And I do mean a few. But this is the reality of living in the mountains. It has been a cherished experience for our family.
