Trout and Berry Days

Paradise has the BEST summer celebration called Trout and Berry Days. A local family owns a trout/pheasant/deer hunting club and another local family raises raspberries. So the two combine for a day of fun. We had no idea what to expect when we were told about this event yesterday. Having two grands who are CRAZY about fishing, we talked them into coming over to try catching the trout with their hands. The kids are divided into age groups, and for the price of $1.00 they are able to keep the fish they catch. Each age division is allowed just a certain amount of time, and there were some tears from the few unlucky who couldn't catch the squirmy fish. The parents "got" to help out with the kinder under 5. Sara did us proud when she got in the water to help out her 4 year old. He was able to catch his fish on his own and was SO proud of himself. 7 year old Caleb was the first to catch his fish in his age group, not counting the girl who went in with a baggie.....cheater! The boys had the time of their life. Bouncy houses, etc. were free and good food and crafts were available for sale. We look forward next year to bringing the Bundys and Caspersons. The last category is just for women so maybe we will have to have a challenge among the womenfolk. Anyone/anyone?
