The Trinidad economy is strongly influenced by the petroleum industry. It has one of the highest growth rates and per capita income in Latin America. TT is the leading Caribbean producer of oil and gas. Oil and gas account for 40% of GDP and 80% of exports.
And while it is an emerging country, exporting more gas to the United States than any other country, may I ask why they don't spend more money on their roads? Where is Valium when I need it? I have been so tense while driving around this Island. Driving on "the left side' of the road has never been fun for me. Add to that the fact that T's left arm is broken and he has to do a lot of shifting with his left arm and you can begin to appreciate why I am stomping down so much on the brake that isn't there. That is such an 'old persons' move. Hello. The roads are two lanes with no shoulders. I repeat: NO shoulder. When someone wants to park to go into a residence or business, they just PARK in the lane of traffic and get out. I kid you not. So the lane of traffic has to pull into the oncoming lane and go around. This happens all day/every day. No one honks, gives hand gestures, or makes any fuss. The oncoming traffic slows up to let the other lane around. The WORST traffic conditions I have ever been in was in northern Italy. The roads were so narrow that if a tourist bus came along....which they did all the time....the other lane had to literally back up into someone's driveway or other pull out until the bus went by. We ugly Americans just do not know how sweet we have it, do we?

I can't believe I haven't been checking your blog, it would have spared me some new grey hairs wondering how you're doing. I really liked your post about greeting our husbands and congratulating them on another day's hard work. I did find it interesting that you and Holly have made plans for lunch, very interesting. Also, bummer you don't have my second series book to read. I think that's nice you gave money to the missionaries. I love every post and seeing every picture. My favorite post was Day #1 with the public add on Trinidad and Tobago. Can't wait to have you back!! Oh, and good job on the "click here" button, what to figure it out. Now I will be coming to YOU for blog and internet questions. Oh and also I am so with you on Indiana Jones, I hardly even liked it. Ryan loved it, but I thought to myself that I should warn you and dad to not waste your time. I will say the Harrison Ford looked Grrreat! It's funny what make-up can do.
Opray Winfrey is living proof of what professional make-up artists can do! Harrison F. surely wouldn't have such a stark contrast as does Opray.
Glad your having a great time. The one thing that would ruin it for me is the thing that you love-- The Heat. We are so acclimated to cool weather that we sleep in an unheated bedroom in the winter. I abhore Hawaii because it's too warm for me to sleep. I know, we're weird. I often joke that we can never vacation south of the Mason-Dixon line. Have a great trip.
