Barn Raising

This is the spot we decided to build the barn on...what's this WE? I mean Trace decided to put his barn. His grandson, nephew and 3 son-in-laws helped him get started. He fell of the ladder twice, the second time breaking some ribs. No good. Finally he healed and was able to complete the task. We love having a place to put all the tools, snow blower, lawn mower and such. You can never have too many tools I have come to find out. 5 hammers...yes they are ALL needed.

Tired but Happy

I'm tired. Really really tired. I'm not complaining. I'm just saying. I love to do yard work. For the last ten years it has been the focus of my spring, summer and fall. And the fun is not over just because we moved. Far from it. Now we get to garden two properties. Lucky us. Today we went to Liberty to start getting that yard looking good. I trimmed 16 rose bushes, raked, weeded, cleaned the bunkhouse, and helped Trace load heavy flagstones into the truck which we are relocating to Paradise. This was just the first truck load of many to come.
The sod came for our new yard last week. It filled a semi. Thank goodness we hired that job out! We have started to plant bushes, trees and perennials. Tomorrow we have a crew coming to help place bark and work on the barn. I'm off to the hot tub:)

Our Title of LIBERTY

Cody built us this monument for our own family 'title of Liberty'. I haven't had it engraved yet because for most years, a new baby is born and I have to have a new plaque made up to include the new baby's name. This is situated near our shade garden. We love it!
The kinder have serious issues with this 'tree troll'. His eyes glow at night, to add to the horror!

I love pee'.uh.nees

I definitely have flowers that I associate with my grandmothers. Grandma Mayme had a large lilac bush near her back door. Grandma Mamie grew wonderful purple iris. In their honor, I grow both. However, I myself, am mad for peonys. Some people pronounce them pee.OH.nee, but the standard pronunciation is PEE.uh.nee.

My peonys are not grown by the acre, but I still love the show they put on in the early summer.
Because the heads are so large and heavy when wet, a tomato cage or other metal element should be placed around them for support.

A Sunday bouquet in 'cemetery vases' from Aunt Sarah.
