Northwest Adventures Continue

Todd was off much when I was there, since he works two days one week and three days the next. Who doesn't love the fire department? So Stacey and I were able to get many adventures in, some sans kinder and some with. We enjoyed doing family names in the beautiful Portland temple, then we walked all over downtown. How I love and miss that city.

We moved to the top floor (25th) of these high rises one year when we were being urban gypsies. We would have loved to stay living downtown, but the cost to keep a car, and we had 3, was too much.

Todd loaded up the bikes and we biked all over downtown, following the wonderful bike paths, mostly along the river, but with a quick jont to the Pearl District for bread sticks at Hot Lips Pizza. Those Lake kids are athletes!
Kenna, Brody, Stacey and I drove up the Gorge to Beacon Rock for an exhilarating hike to the top.

People in Stacey's neighborhood really get into the Halloween mood by decorating their yards on the day of Halloween. They go to a ton of work for just one day!

Brody was a 'stinkin' cute little skunk. I wonder if he's ever had so much fun!

We went on the lunch river cruise on the Portland Spirit. It was so good  and a fun way to see the city. The kids had a marvelous time.

The kiddies miss Annie. As you drove away the rains came in. What a lucky week we had!! We'll always have soup and carmel apples to remember you by.

Girl there really should be a limit to how much fun you have. I definately need to get out more. Portland looks like a fun city. Is it at all like Chicago?

Sid, I've never been to Chicago so I don't know. I just know that it is the best city in America. And the ocean is only 71 miles away. What could be better than that!

What a fun vacation Annie! It looks like you had a great time and enjoyed the holiday together. I remember Portland being the most exercise friendly town around, perfect for the Lake family.

It looks like you kept yourself busy. I was actually home the whole day you went to the temple, but I left my phone in my pants upstairs and didn't check it until it was too late. Oh well. You picked a perfect week to come, fall is unbelievable up here.

Is that Cindy Elmer's house? I thought you were going to say it was the Club House at a Golf Course or something. I miss Portland too! Your posts are making me think Cache Valley is lameo.

I appreciate the photos and memories even though I wasn't there to enjoy with you. I try to always keep my memories of Portland in a special place of fondness rather than regret and longing. Remember the words of the R'nR song that said, "Love the one you're with." It makes a wonderful place to visit, but sitting in the hot tub watching giant snowflakes drift down in the solace of my back yard in Eden is hard to beat as well. I so appreciate Stace for making a wonderful visit for her mother in my absence.

I get really jealous when I see pictures of the great Northwest...I only dream of living there with all of the wonderful rain, and greenery...nothing compares to that area of the country....

Loved the picts and hearing more about what you did. I'm so glad you had that extra long time with the Lake family and that the weather was so cooperative.
