Christmas Wreaths

In 1973, when we lived in Eugene, Oregon, my friend gave me this recipe. I have been making it every December since that time. Don't ask me why I don't make it any other time of the year. It is so yummy! My girls demand a batch the day after Thanksgiving and we continue making it right up to Christmas Eve.

Corn Flake Wreaths:
Melt:
1 cube butter
34 large marshmallows
Remove from heat and add:
1 t. vanilla
2 t. green coloring
4 1/2 c. corn flakes
On parchment paper, form the mixture into wreaths and then add red hots, or cinnamon flavored decorating decors.

It must have been a recipe that was passed around in the 80's. The wreaths are one of our family favorites. Instead of the red sugar on top, I place those little red hot candies around on them. We play like they look like holly berries. Well if you don't wear your glasses or squint they do.

Jim Dear really dislikes any decorations on his food so we leave him some that are plain. We have to do that with cookies and cupcakes also. The things we do...

Men!! We put the red hots on the wreaths, except for this year. That was the original way the wreaths were made. It is uncanny how many things we do the same Joyce!

Ohh! I need to make those soon! I crunch up candy canes and put those instead of red hots.

This to me as a kid is what Christmas was all about. Who am I kidding? It's still what Christmas is all about. I haven't made them yet this season. Maybe we could make some on our baking day.

Linny, that's a good question. Christmas isn't about presents, it's about Jesus.

Do you know something that is probably blasphomous, but I've never made these for my kids. I don't like the red hots. It's fun having something special to make. I should make em for my kids.
