~Summer Adventures~

The excitement began on June 23, when Lindsey had our 13th grandchild, named Lydia DeNae. Her big sister, Emma, welcomed her with glee.

The Lake family came to Liberty from Vancouver, Washington, for two weeks. We tried to keep them as busy as could be and we enjoyed them so much.

Trace's extended family traveled from many states to support his production of BATTALION, which ran June 25-26. Rainy weather changed the venue but most believe it was better to have had it indoors, instead of in the Huntsville park. Nine family members were in the cast and I believe they had much fun performing.

Trace, with 5 of his siblings
"Brigham Young", aka Kerry Ormson, traveled from Amarillo, Texas to be in the play. We met he and Nancy when we lived there in the 80's and have remained good friends.

Our two son-in-laws and daughter were in the production.

We celebrated my 60th birthday on July 4th, with a party at our home.  45 family members joined for the celebration.  We played games, had dinner and enjoyed the Liberty fireworks. The first game was a 5K obstacle course run, crossing a river, going through a bear's den, climbing over many walls, and swinging over crocodile infested waters.

Since green is my favorite color, we had a raffle where everyone received something green.

Emma wowed the crowd with her memorization of The Preamble....she's only three!!

We played the eggs bashing game again to show the Lakes how to play.

Jamie hosted three games; one of which included eating crickets and other gross items...or maybe something tasty, you just never knew.

After the birthday party we headed for Bear Lake and stayed in my cousin's fabulously huge cabin for 3 nights. We enjoyed our days on the beach, even though it would get rather windy in the afternoon.

Miss Lydia kept out of the wind in her little tent.

Griffin and I biked to town for a burger and raspberry shake just before we had to leave.

Camdyn impressed her cousins with her double dutch skills. Now the fun has ended and the Lakes head for home while Trace heads to Saudi Arabia. What a wonderful 2 weeks.

Oh how I love to see families having fun. But come on green for 4th of July, isn't that sacrilegious? Congrats on the new baby, wow love that hair. And I was so craving that raspberry shake, so sad we missed connecting!

Have you recovered yet from all the fun and activities? It comes and goes so quickly. I'm glad we got to participate in a little portion of all the festivities. And I think you should enter in some contest for people to guess your age and then you get the money when they guess much, much younger than what you are! You're looking good.

Wow, what a busy month it's been. I think my favorite part was when Lydia was born. Then my next favorite was your birthday party with that yummy yummy cake. Great post. I am so behind on my blog updates, and journal entrys as well. In fact I should be cleaning right now instead of even doing this. But you are my mother after all, so it's okay if I take a break for you ;)
