Why Bother

We have been living in Paradise since March 2 and it has gone by in a blur. The moving in went much smoother than either one of us hoped for. We have had so much help from our family and are so grateful. The first thing we did was unload the furniture from Arizona. When that was all in place and the house had the initial cleaning, we rented a SMALL u-haul and made several trips to Liberty over 2 or 3 weeks. I usually went in the Yukon twice a week, and Trace did a load in his truck also. It was great because we always put everything away as it came in and so never had the appalling barrage of boxes sitting everywhere. But my main point today is that since our yard isn't in, and the property is surrounded by just dirt, for the time being, it is just impossible to keep the house clean. Oh well. Such a burden to bear! We have been able to employ some guys to put in the sprinklers and move the rocks around so as to have a stairway access from the front of the house, instead of people having to come down into our driveway. Someone else is putting in a booster system for better water pressure and soon we will have sod. Then we will be responsible for planting trees, shrubs and my lovely perennials. And a vegetable garden. I'm glad I've hired Rachel to clean one day a week for me:) And Josh is helping Trace build the barn since he needs money for the upcoming prom:) I'll show 'after' pictures in a month.

Wow, you ain't kidding about it being pretty brown there right now....the picture underneath of my cherry blossoms looks like the garden of eden compared to your lone and dreary world of Paradise (in the winter). That looks like a full on construction site! Our yard had some construction in it today as Todd had a 10 foot metal chain yanking out those shrubs up the walkway. He broke 2 shovels before going that route!

Looks like things are progressing! What a lot of work. I'm sure it's fun at the same time to use your creative juices on some new project. Good luck! Can't wait to see it.
